[Production] The Scrubber Retrofitting Project with the Largest Scale of Work Volume Began to Be Retrofitted

On December 22nd, VR4311A Rapallo, CPO II series vessel, entered the yard for the scrubber retrofitting project. This is currently the largest ship of its kind in HRDD, with an estimated construction period of 60 days.

The principle design of project is designed by the shipowner. HRDD is responsible for the production design. The ship’s new chimney will be equipped with one main tower and one auxiliary tower at the same time, totaling 320 tons; a new water treatment room, totaling 120 tons; a new engine room, 6 main sea water pumps, and 7 254SMo stainless steel outboard pipes; 100 new probes of various types, nearly 200 valves of various types, more than 2,000 pipes of various types and more than 700 cables, around 40,000 meters.
This project is a hybrid scrubber retrofitting project with high tech requirements and difficult retrofitting. On the other hand, due to the dual negative effects of low temperature weather and theCOVID-19, the construction will be faced several severe challenges.

However, Huarun Dadong has accumulated rich experience in the retrofitting project of the hybrid scrubber of the CPO I series ships. HRDD had successfully completed the retrofitting projects of 5 ships, and the construction period was shorter and shorter. The quality also has won unanimous praise from the shipowners.

At present, all relevant departments have carried out various constructions in an orderly manner as planned. The supervisor who is in charge of this retrofitting project stated that we will definitely complete the conversion task as fast as possible with high quality, and will never let the shipowner‘s expectations be disappoint.
