Steel cutting Commenced for the First Mega Container Vessel LNG as Fuel Conversion

The Steel cutting for the worldwide first LNG as fuel conversion project for a Mega Container vessel is commenced on 1st of August as per the plan in Huarun Dadong Dockyard Co.,Ltd(HRDD) , whose biggest share holder is the Hudong –Zhonghua New building Group , one member of China State Shipbuilding Corporation Limited (CSSC). Followed by the projects of the first VLCC single skin converted to double skin worldwide , the first Panamax container vessel lengthened and widened worldwide , The first large LNG carrier converted to FSRU domestic , Once more , HRDD is being undertaken the first Mega container vessel converting to LNG as Fuel project, which significantly demonstrates HRDD’s competences of innovating、breakthroughs、continuously transcending for the repairs and conversions for the highly-difficult and high value-added projects.

The Mega container vessel M/V Sajir with the loading capacity of 15000Teus owned and being  managed by the one of the most famous liner company Hapag Lloyd Germany, built by Hyundai Heavy industrial and delivered at 2014 , is being recorded the first project worldwide of being converted to LNG as fuel. As per the conversion schedule , the conversion period is three and half months , major conversion scopes are constructing and adding one LNG tank (Membrane Mark III) for storing and supplying LNG , and the existing Main engine, Auxiliary engines and boiler to be converted to Dual Fuel modes, I.E both gas and low sulfur oil can be burned, Plus the FGSS (Fuel gas supply system ) to be supplied and installed for furnishing the proper gas to the consumers respectively.  By the method of conversion , Sulfur Oxide and soot particles are no longer  in the exhaust fumes , nitrous oxide emissions are cut by up to 80 percent and carbon dioxide emissions are up to 20 percent lower, which is significantly lessing the pollution‘s to the environment , and the same is comprehensively complying with the new regulation of Marpol  Annex VI to be set into force from the beginning of 2020 requested by IMO too.   

For smooth executing the conversion project , HRDD has set out the elaborations such as expertise training , leadership organization, HSE & quality systematically, conversion procedures , and personnel arrangement etc for ensuring the conversion to be successful, which is facilitating HRDD to be the best brand substantially worldwide for the repairs and conversions for the highly-difficult and high value-added projects.
